Your 2023 Community Campaign

United Way of Peterborough and District started our annual community campaign two weeks early this year with a celebratory launch on September 6th at the Healthy Planet Arena where we announced the goal to raise $1,450,000 to fund 20 partner agencies, who served more than 46,000 Peterborough residents in 2022.

This year’s target is to realize a 10 per cent increase over last year’s campaign goal.

“We announce a goal every year, to help us continue to fund the 20 partner agencies that we’ve made five-year commitments to. It’s really important that we’re able to maintain and grow it. We want to keep that momentum up.” -Jim Russell, CEO, United Way Peterborough & District

Funding the community agencies is more important than ever because of the lingering effects of the pressures put on these integral agencies tha focus on social issues such as homelessness, domestic violence, mental health, unemployment and addiction, by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, UWP was  able to increase the funding to our 20 Partner Agencies by 5 per cent.  Through this, together UWP supported agencies were able to provide 275 programs and initiatives that directly served 46,263 people in our community.  The costs to effectivly deliver these vital services and supports will only continue to rise with inflation so, acheiving the $1,450,000 goal this year is critical.

“The number of people that we served last year was 46,000. Those are people’s brothers and sisters, parents and grandparents,” he said. “We all struggle from time to time, and sometimes need a little bit of help, and that’s what we’re investing in.” – Jim Russell, CEO, United Way Peterborough & District
