Inaugural Tour de Lion Ride for Fun Health and Community In Support of United Way Declared as Part of Dandelion Day Festival

The United Way of Peterborough and District announced an exciting new partnership with Transition Town Peterborough this morning.  Sunday May 28th marks the 4th annual Dandelion Day Festival to be held at Millennium Park from 11a.m.-4p.m. This annual celebration focuses on healthy lifestyles and the public is invited to enjoy free live music, face painting, children’s activity wall, and a chance to meet local Health Practitioners and local authors.

Ensuring that the day is fun for kids, The Big Dandee was in attendance at the press conference in all his 7 foot dandelion glory, and will be joined by Razberry the Clown who will be entertaining and face painting at the May 28th celebration.

Jim Russell, CEO of United Way Peterborough and District spoke about the alignment of values shared between the two organizations, “we believe in a healthier community for all, and we are so pleased to be partners is this year’s celebration of the noble dandelion,” stated Russell. The festival will have an added event this year called The Dandelion Day “Tour de Lion” Ride for Fun Health and Community, which includes 3 different routes. All proceeds from pledges collected will be donated directly to United Way to help in their work of building strong inclusive communities.

Committee members Craig Niziolek, and Andrea Connell outlined the details of the 3 different rides that will take place all ending up at Millennium Park to partake in the festival celebrations:
