Today, United Way Peterborough & District released the final report from the 2024 Point-in-Time Count of people experiencing homelessness in our community. We were joined this morning by local media, elected officials, and some of our funded partners and surveyors at our Stewart Street office to discuss the findings and what they mean for our community. This community-wide effort, carried out with the help of surveyors with lived experience, shelter staff and outreach workers, provides a critical snap shot of homelessness in our city. “Homelessness is a complex, nuanced issue,” shared Nancy Fischer, Chair of United Way Peterborough & District’s Community Impact Committee. “One which requires a focus on evidence-based program development.” To read the full report, visit the link in our bio.
