Community Engagement Project Coordinator

Hours: 21 hours/week (flexible scheduling may be available)
Type: Temporary contract (6 months)
Compensation: $28.49/hour
Reports To: Director of Community Impact
Location: In-office at 277 Stewart Street, Peterborough

This role will support the Director of Community Impact and the rollout of our Community Impact Funding Model, including the Agency Capacity Fund, Priority Issues Fund, and Research & Advocacy Initiatives. It will also play a key role in coordinating the Point-In-Time Count and Housing & Homelessness Symposium—two important efforts to better understand and address homelessness in our region.

About the Role
As the Community Engagement Project Coordinator, you will report to the Director of Community Impact. You will play a central role in supporting the rollout and administration of United Way Peterborough’s Community Impact Funding Model, including the Agency Capacity Fund, Priority Issues Fund, Research & Advocacy Fund, and key community initiatives such as the Point-In-Time Count and Housing & Homelessness Symposium.
Funding Application Coordination
- Assist the Community Impact department in reviewing incoming funding applications to ensure they are complete and meet basic eligibility criteria. Follow up with applicants as needed.
- Help organize and input application data into Excel spreadsheets for internal analysis and presentation. Support the preparation of materials for review panels.
- Work closely with panel reviewers to gather and summarize scoring and feedback. Assist with scheduling, communications, and documentation related to panel meetings.
- Support the drafting and updating of application forms and guidance documents for various funding streams. Ensure materials are clear, accessible, and aligned with departmental standards.
Program Coordination
- Support the Director of Community Engagement with the launch of the Priority Issues Fund in January, including a community-wide survey to inform funding priorities.
- Assist in the planning and execution of Research & Advocacy Fund initiatives focused on social planning and evidence-based community development.
Project Coordination & Community Engagement
- Coordinate with internal teams, community agencies, and volunteers to meet milestones across multiple initiatives.
- Support the Community Impact department with completing the 2025 Point-In-Time Count, a region-wide effort to collect data on homelessness.
- Support department planning of the Housing & Homelessness Symposium, fostering dialogue and collaboration among service providers.
Data Analysis
- Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
- Use Excel to analyze funding application data, identify trends, and create visual reports for decision-making; experience with Power BI is a plus.
Communications & Digital Support
- Support the implementation of communication plans to share project updates outcomes, and content for newsletters, social media, and presentations.
- Update and maintain the WordPress website to reflect current initiatives.
What You Bring
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in Excel, with experience in data analysis, formatting, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination, ideally within community-based or nonprofit settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities.
Assets
- Experience in community development, homelessness initiatives, or social services.
- Familiarity with grant funding processes, including application review and scoring.
- Knowledge of local community resources and networks in Peterborough and surrounding areas.
- Certification in CAPM or PMP (or working toward one).
- Experience using Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
- Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems.
- Experience conducting community surveys, both online and in-person.
