Coming Together: A Day of Reflection on Poverty

Coming Together: A Day of Reflection on Poverty took place October 15, 1 to 3pm at The Mount Community Centre

In recognition of the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Poverty, Peterborough Social Planning Council, Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network, City of Peterborough Social Services Division, and United Way Peterborough & District were proud to host Coming Together: A Day of Reflection on Poverty.

Celebrate and Reflect. The collective aspiration for the day was to inspire people to make a commitment, a pledge, to act purposefully and with intention to end poverty.

Artists, and speakers shared their personal reflections on the question “what does poverty mean to people, to my community, and to me”. The day was filled with music, spoken word, visual arts, videos of people with lived experience, and movement pieces. It was a day of stillness and reflection.

We’ll always remember this campaign, and the incredible leadership behind it 💫

Over the past year, Paul has brought dedication, energy, and heart to every part of this campaign. From milestone moments to the quiet work behind the scenes, his commitment never wavered (even when it meant going back up on the roof!).

Now, it’s time to celebrate everything this community has accomplished together.
