Agency Capacity Fund – Now Open

United Way Peterborough & District Launches New Three-Year $75,000 Funding Opportunity for Local Charities

United Way Peterborough & District is excited to announce a new open call for applications through its Agency Capacity Fund, offering a significant funding opportunity for local social and human service charities. Eligible organizations can apply for $25,000 per year over three years, totaling $75,000 in support.

This funding initiative is part of United Way’s ongoing commitment to community building, with a strong focus on Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion (READI). Priority will be given to agencies that provide essential services such as basic needs, life skills development, and community support programs.

We are excited to offer this opportunity to agencies committed to serving and building community,” said Jim Russell, CEO of United Way Peterborough and District.

In addition to the Agency Capacity Fund, United Way will be rolling out several other funding streams over the coming year, including:

  • Priority Issues Fund – Supporting initiatives aligned with emerging, high-impact community priorities
  • Research and Social Planning Initiatives – Funding high-quality local research and advocacy
  • Neighbourhood Fund – Offering small grassroots grants to strengthen community connections

Applications for the Agency Capacity Fund open today and must be submitted by October 15, 2025 at noon. Interested organizations can download the application guide and form from United Way’s website. To support applicants, mandatory information sessions will be held on:

  • September 23, 2025 from 12:00–1:00 PM
  • October 1, 2025 from 9:30–10:30 AM
  • To register, email impact@uwpeterborough.ca with your session preference.

Applications will be reviewed by a community panel, with funding decisions announced by December 31st. Funds will be distributed beginning April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2029.
