United Way Peterborough Surpasses $1.5M Fundraising Goal

Last night at the McDonnel Street Community Centre, United Way Peterborough & District proudly announced the success of its 2024 Campaign, surpassing its ambitious $1.5 million goal with a final total of $1,506,198. This marks the first time in over ten years that the organization has met its campaign target.

The campaign, which ran from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, supported 20 Partner Agencies and other local initiatives. Key to this year’s success were innovative community-driven strategies like Peterborough Pajama Day, which saw over 100 participants from local businesses donning pajamas for a cause, and the Double Your Difference initiative, where an anonymous donor matched new and increased contributions.

CEO Jim Russell and Campaign Cabinet Chair Shirley Turner both expressed deep gratitude and pride in the community’s generosity and spirit. Turner highlighted the campaign’s fun and inclusive approach, while Russell emphasized the collective effort that made this milestone possible.

Donations made moving forward will count toward the 2025 Campaign, with the official launch set for September.
