A Gift that Goes Twice as Far: United Way Peterborough & District Announces Return of Matching Commitment

[Peterborough, ON, September 15, 2026] — For 85 years, United Way Peterborough & District has brought people together to support a stronger, more caring community. This year, that legacy of neighbours helping neighbours comes with an added opportunity: qualifying donations will go twice as far through a matching gift from a generous anonymous donor.

Now entering its third and final year, the donor’s matching commitment offers community members a meaningful opportunity to make a difference. In honour of United Way Peterborough and District’s 85th anniversary, new donations of $85 or more, as well as any increase to an existing gift, will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the impact of eligible contributions to the Community Campaign.

“Our 85th anniversary makes this year’s campaign especially meaningful,” said the organizations CEO, Jason Seguya, “we’re grateful to our community for the continued support that has brought us to this milestone. We’re excited to celebrate it together and invite everyone to be part of what comes next.”

The match applies to eligible donations made directly to the United Way, as well as through workplace campaigns, giving individuals and employees of local businesses an opportunity to participate in a way that works for them. Whether someone is making their first gift to the organization, or increasing their existing contribution, their generosity can go twice as far.

As the organization marks 85 years of working alongside local agencies, donors, volunteers and community partners, the matching gift is a reminder of what can happen when people come together around a shared commitment to their neighbours. Every contribution helps strengthen the network of local partner agencies that the organization funds, working to address community needs and improve lives across Peterborough and County.

Community members can donate in person, online, and through workplace campaigns.
