Hillary Flood

Hillary Flood grew up in Peterborough Ontario and has dedicated her career to making downtown Peterborough the happiest, healthiest, and most vibrant community it can be.

Hillary is a community activator, thought leader and placemaker, who has led several high-profile city-building projects that impact how we interact with our downtown and each other. Pre-Covid, Hillary led a beloved open streets initiative called Peterborough Pulse which reimagined the possibilities of our streets as spaces for people, community, and social inclusion.

In 2018, Hillary embarked on a pioneering venture in cycle tourism which brought a 15-passenger party bike to downtown Peterborough. PedalBoro’s iconic teal 19-foot party bike offers group cycling tours of Peterborough’s vibrant food and beverage scene. As the owner, operator and resident party pixie Hilary’s party bike was developed as a personal passion project to help elevate Peterborough’s allure as a vibrant urban destination and advance cycle tourism in Peterborough and the Kawartha's.

In her role as Vibrancy Manager for the Downtown Business Improvement Area, Hillary has been the architect of experiences, masterfully designing urban adventures that beckon visitors back to the beating heart of our city. Hillary’s work has contributed to our city’s cultural and economic landscape from pioneering entrepreneurial programs such as Win This Space to designing new and exciting downtown discovery opportunities including Peterborough Mac + Cheese Festival, Ptbo Hot Chocolate Fest and Ptbo CaesarFest just to name a few.

Hillary Flood isn't just shaping our community; she's sculpting its soul, painting vibrant strokes of vitality onto the canvas of our collective identity. With every project, she invites us to reimagine what's possible, infusing our lives with the magic of connection and the promise of a brighter, more vibrant tomorrow.

It’s with a profound sadness that United Way Peterborough and District, staff, Board of Directors, and Campaign Cabinet remember and celebrate the life and legacy of Ann Farquharson.

Ann was a dedicated member of our Campaign Cabinet - a community builder with admirable determination. Her legacy spans decades of dedicated civic leadership, and her impact is woven into every corner of our community. We will miss Ann’s voice in our community, and around our tables.

To her family, many friends, and colleagues: we offer our deepest condolences. To our United Way community: we pledge to honour her memory by continuing the work that she so believed in.

Thank you, Ann.
