Wendy Couper

Wendy embodies the essence of selflessness and compassion, living her life dedicated to serving others with boundless love and care. As a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, she exemplifies unwavering support and generosity, always ready to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. Her commitment to putting others first is evident in every aspect of her life. Despite the challenges she faces, Wendy remains a steadfast pillar of strength for her family, including her four children, one serving in the military and three bravely battling cystic fibrosis. She tirelessly supports her daughters through medical appointments and offers unwavering encouragement in their fight against illness, while also being a devoted cheerleader for her son, even as he serves afar. As a grandmother to four precious grandchildren, she cherishes every moment and fills their lives with love and warmth.

In her spare time, Wendy joins her husband Scott in serving the community, particularly the homeless population, formerly in "tent city" and now in the tiny homes community. Her genuine care and compassion have made her a mother figure to many, providing a listening ear, kind advice, and a comforting presence during difficult times. Wendy's acts of kindness extend beyond the streets, welcoming those in need into her home and church community, exemplifying the true spirit of generosity and empathy. She sets a remarkable example for her children and grandchildren, inspiring them to embrace compassion and service to others.

Professionally, Wendy's impact extends to her role as an on-site counselor at a local Bible college, where she supports students living away from their families. Her nurturing demeanor and home-cooked meals create a sense of family and belonging, fostering an environment where students can thrive personally and spiritually. Wendy's dedication to serving extends globally, as she accompanies students on missions trips, spreading love and hope to communities in need around the world.

Wendy's life is a testament to the transformative power of love and compassion. Her unwavering faith and selfless spirit shine brightly, touching the lives of all who have the privilege of knowing her. She is a true embodiment of kindness, a beacon of light in a world in need of hope and love.

Last week, nearly 60 community members came together at our Solutions Summit to share ideas, build connections, and help shape the future of Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion (READI) work across Peterborough City & County.

The conversations were thoughtful, honest, and inspiring, and we know there are still more voices to hear.

We’re now inviting the broader community to help inform how up to $300,000 through our new Priority Issues Fund will be invested over the next 18 months.
Whether you attended the Summit or not, we want your insight.

📝 Complete the Priority Issues Fund Survey before Tuesday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. and help shape this work moving forward.
