Agency Description: To improve the quality of life for families affected by schizophrenia. Family is defined by caring relationships between people with schizophrenia, their relatives, friends, and other individuals in a supportive capacity. Mandated to support, educate, engage, and empower families; promote community awareness; advocate on behalf of families affected by schizophrenia; work cooperatively with organizations for allied disorders; support and advocate for relevant research; promote early intervention.
United Way Funded Programs: General budget to support the following programs: Family Education and Support Group; Schizophrenia Resource Centre; 10-week Strengthening Families Together Caregiver Education Program; Service Provider Education Program; Student and Teacher Education-University, College, Elementary and High School; Behind the Mind's Eye Festival; Squeaky Wheel Guide to Mental Health Services (partially funded by United Way); Volunteer Coordination.
